School & Grades
Enter your syllabus categories, weights, and scores — your weighted course grade updates live. Supports percentage scores or raw points.
Most courses divide your grade into categories — homework, quizzes, midterm, final exam — each worth a different percentage of your total grade. A weighted grade calculator multiplies each category's score by its weight, sums the results, and divides by the total weight. So a 78% midterm worth 25% contributes 19.5 percentage points to your final grade, while a 95% homework score worth 10% only contributes 9.5 points.
The formula: Weighted Grade = Σ(Score × Weight) / Σ(Weights). If your weights add to 100%, the denominator is 100 and the result is your direct course percentage. If they don't add to 100% — say your instructor uses partial weights or extra credit — the calculator still works correctly by dividing by whatever they sum to.
Use % Score mode when your syllabus lists category weights as percentages and you know your average score per category. Use Points mode when you track raw points — enter total points earned and total points possible per category; the calculator converts to percentages automatically.
The "What Score Do I Need?" tool works backwards: given your current scores in all other categories, it calculates exactly what score you need in the selected category to hit your target course grade. Useful for planning before a final exam or major project.
